B-29 sighting of multi-colored fireball near Green River, Utah
Two B-29 aircraft of the 28th Bombardment Group observed a huge multi-colored ball of fire with trailing dense smoke at approximately 20,000 feet near Green River, Utah on February 18, 1948. The object was traveling at very high speed southeast toward Limon, Colorado.
“A buge multi-colored ball of fire trailing a dense cloud of smke was sighted at approx 1500 hours MST 18 Feb 4g, 39° N-100° W at ; approx 20,000 ' by two B-O09 aircraft of the 28th Bombardment Group (V8). It was seen some 100 miles southeast of the B-29s, Size was estimaded as huge altho impossible to determine accurately due to the distance.”
