Military jet pilots near Fairbanks observed a yellow flash of light at 25,000-30,000 feet altitude, followed by dark brown smoke rising at 40 degrees, and a dark cigar-shaped or fuselage-like object traveling at terrific speed approximately 50 miles away; pursuit continued until pilots reached village of Clear and lost sight at 50,000-55,000 feet altitude.

Alas Air Comd reports military jet pilots vic Fairbanks while over Weeks International Field at an altitude of 8000 feet observed a flash of light, yellow in color at an altitude between 25,000 and 30,000 feet. Horizontal distance to object was aprx 50 miles. Soon after flash a dark brown smoke appeared to rise or climb at an angle of 40 degrees. At the leading edge of the smoke at aprx 100 feet appeared an object either cigar shaped or a fuselage without wings travelling at terrific speed. Pilots started pursuit on heading of 210 degrees mag, indicating 380 at a very steep climb. Pursuit continued until pilots reached village of clear and lost sight of object. Meantime object gained altitude and speed and disappeared because of distance of aprx 50 to 55,000 feet.
