High-speed object with blue-white exhaust over Jersey City

Two police detectives and a patrol officer observed an object traveling at 300-400 mph with a brilliant blue-white flame exhaust about 10 feet long at 1,000-3,000 feet altitude over Jersey City, traveling northwest before disappearing behind buildings.
“at 12:13 AM on this date he and his partner, Det. Edward Sherry viewed in the sky the exhaust of an object which Det. Langrehr stated traveled at a speed of 300 or 4,00 miles an hour at an altitude of 1,000 to 3,000 feet. He described this object as having an exhaust of a brillant bihuish white flame about 10 feet long and he stated he saw this object for about 30 seconds.”
