A cigar-shaped object approximately 100 feet long was observed by EAL pilots flying at 5,000 feet near Montgomery, Alabama on July 24, 1948 at 0245 hours, traveling southwest at 600-700 MPH with a red-orange flame and blue fluorescent glow beneath it before disappearing into a cloud.
